In April 2022, Steven performed in the People's Light production of Jeanne Sakata's HOLD THESE TRUTHS, the acclaimed solo play about the famous Supreme Court case Hirabayashi v. United States in 1943 challenging the Japanese internment of American citizens during WWII. This production began rehearsals in 2019, but was halted during technical rehearsals due to COVID-19. In its return, the production was able to have a full run of live audiences.
In November 2021, Steven performed in the Utah Shakespeare Festival's world premiere of GOLD MOUNTAIN, a new musical by Jason Ma.
In 2019, Steven was honored at Prospect Theater Company's 20th Anniversary Gala for his contributions to the growth of the Off-Broadway non-profit company as an actor, director and producing partner.
Steven has been a theater professional for over 25 years, continuing to work extensively in New York City as an actor, director, instructor at New York University's Tisch School of the Arts, and as a voice/speech/text specialist in consulting. He is a founder of the non-profit National Asian Artists Project and has served in national positions, including as a grants panelist for the National Endowment for the Arts. He has been interviewed on NPR and various other media outlets and has served as a guest speaker at the Yale School of Drama and Montclair State University.
